My husband and I found Carli through a friend of mine that used her. This was my first pregnancy, and as an ICU nurse, I had a lot of anxieties around my birth. I knew too much about things that go wrong. But Carli was exactly what I needed. Her prenatal visits reassured me and gave me the knowledge Joey and I needed to go into the hospital confidently. I know how to deal with doctors, so I felt comfortable denying or accepting certain treatments, but once I was 10 cm dilated, it was Carli that advocated that I wait to push to allow the baby to slide down more on her own (I had an epidural). She gave us options that I didn’t even know we had. That hour before pushing that I had with my mom, husband, and Carli was one of the most peaceful times in my life. It gave me the strength to finish giving birth and all the chaos that came after. I was scared that the birthing process would scare me off from ever wanting one again.
