Marcia was my doula for my third birth, and it was my first birth using a doula. I had two prior C-sections and wanted a VBA2C for this birth, and truly hiring a doula is one of the biggest factors that made my VBA2C a success. After a traumatic first delivery and then a scheduled RCS with an unsupportive provider for my second, my husband and I knew we wanted a different experience for our third. Marcia was warm and kind from the start and was always a text or call away through my pregnancy. She gave great advice when making my birth plan and offered suggestions in areas I hadn't considered. She was supportive of what I wanted in this birth and never made me feel pressure that my birth experience needed to look or be a certain way. When I went into labor she was an excellent communicator and responded to all my questions and messages right away. When it was time to head to the hospital she met us there and was a rock for us the minute we walked through the doors. She helped me feel the confidence to advocate for myself, worked together great with my nurses and doctor (which was very important to me), and cheered me on even when I wanted to give up multiple times. She was a steady, firm, yet compassionate presence through my birth and I truly don't know if my VBA2C would have been a success without her support. I would highly recommend Marcia as a doula and am so thankful we had her as ours!
