Testimonial for Rebecca Turrigiano
I knew the moment I found out I was pregnant that I needed to find a birth doula! As a practicing doula myself, I knew I had an army of doula sisters at my reach. I interviewed several doulas but Rebecca and I connected so well I knew she was "the one". My husband was even drawn to her presence and was thankful for her support!
Prior to each prenatal visit, Rebecca emailed me evidence based information for me to review to help me process what I felt my preferences were for this birth. Since I was attempting a VBAC, she was sensitive to my concerns and we talked through all the unpredicatable scenarios until I was comfortable, confident and accepting of what may/not happen. Rebecca always offered sound guidance and helped me process my hormone driven thoughts so I could clearly feel what was on my mind and heart. She always encouraged me to trust my body!
Once my body and baby decided it was time, Rebecca was on top of everything. She stayed in communication with me while I labored at home and when we were ready, she met us at the hospital as planned. During labor, my little one was not in an optimal position so my body was working double time to move her. This was hard on my body but Rebecca kept me going. She had me moving, doing position changes, making sure I was eating/drinking, encouraging me, and even signing with me. When complications arose, she helped me process pros/cons which led me to make decisions that were best for me and baby. It was all very empowering!
Ultimately, I ended up with a belly birth which I probably would have felt very defeated about had I not processed everything with Rebecca in our prenatal visits. I trusted my body and she reminded me that I could birth this baby no matter what! I'm so thankful for her love, support and safe place for me to be, well, me. It's an honor to call Rebecca my doula-sister, but I'm even more proud to call her my doula!
