I reached out to Barbie based on her years of experience, interests & services. My husband and I met and talked with her for over an hour and left knowing that we’d found our support person. Barbie’s knowledge, personality, and passion for being a doula is what sealed our decision.
A few weeks later we had our first meeting to discuss my birth plan and more. Barbie gave insights on what we should expect, offered suggestions, and provided information that we would not have known otherwise. Leading up the birth, she's available 24/7, so when I had a question about what I was feeling she was less than a phone call away. When it came down to the big day, Barbie was our teacher, cheerleader, and friend! My husband sent her text updates while I labored at home, and she met us in the hospital early Sunday morning. She took me on walks around the halls to help ease me through labor, set up a calming atmosphere in my hospital room, walked my husband through poses and positions to help me with pain and getting baby to go further downward. She was with us through the entire labor/delivery, attentive to each detail the midwife and nurses discussed with us and would elaborate more on it so that my husband and I fully understood. This gave us the peace of mind when it came to making decisions about our baby’s birth, like if I should break my water and when, etc. Barbie made us feel at ease and confident in our journey. I absolutely loved my labor and son’s birth; it was everything I wanted and then some. I would not have had the same experience had it not been for Barbie.
I could go on and on writing more nice things about her but the short of it is: if you are looking for a doula, reach out to Barbie. I’m so happy she was a meaningful part of my labor and son’s birth, and we will never forget Barbie and all of the support she provided!
