My wife and I found Rosa through searching the BCDoula website by looking and comparing the experience, training, and services that each Doula offered. We had an instant connection with Rosa when we had our first meeting. Leading up to the birth Rosa answered any questions my wife had about symptoms she was having and provided her with reassurance over the telephone and text message. When our baby decided to come, Rosa showed up at the hospital immediately and was very helpful as she advised me how to effectively support my wife throughout the birthing process. Rosa ensured that I knew where to massage my wife during contractions and informed me what I could ask of the hospital staff. Rosa’s presence allowed us to keep calm and focused and assess the situation when the labour stopped progressing, and she helped to emotionally and mentally prepare us when we needed to make the decision to get an unplanned c-section. After the c-section, Rosa sat with me and my daughter until my wife returned from the post-operative ward. I really appreciated Rosa’s presence as I had been working a night shift before the labour began and it was a very stressful 30 hour day for me so having her calming presence was invaluable. After the birth of our daughter, my wife joked that I was the one that needed the Doula, because she felt that I benefited greatly from the emotional support Rosa provided.
