Joy was an amazing doula from beginning to end!! She was always ready to answer for any questions during my pregnancy, while reminding me that she was support and not a medical professional, encouraging me to always reach out to my provider if I felt concerned. She helped me to really vocalize my concerns so that I could advocate for myself with my providers so I was confident and comfortable with myself throughout the whole process. When it came time for my induction, before I went to the hospital, Joy was on the phone so I could know what to expect. She was in constant contact with me, and when I called her to come in, she picked up the phone after the first ring. Until my son was born, Joy was an excellent support, even staying the night with me at the hospital in case I progressed to active labor then. She helped me with exercises that could help drop my baby and offered constant support to me. When there were times I needed to be less active and simply meditate, she gave me the space to do so. We talked through all my options and she never swayed me one way or the other, and she worked wonderfully with the hospital staff. Joy also offered my husband wonderful support. I was so relaxed that in between pushes, I was chatting with people!! I felt so strong and empowered in a way I never thought I could during birth. Even now, after I've had the baby, she is checking in on us. My husband and I have agreed we will definitely be hiring a doula, hopefully Joy, again in the future!!
