Totally. Worth. It! Heidi was our doula with the birth of our first child in July 2010. She was amazing then and I knew I wanted her there to help us welcome any more children we would have. Once I found out I was pregnant she was the second person I called. I wanted to make sure I was on her calendar! Since having my daughter in 2010 and having a wonderful experience with a doula I decided to go to school and become a doula myself. With this second birth I had a lot more knowledge and comfort with the whole birthing process but I still knew Heidi would be an asset and I wanted her there. We chose to birth at home this time and I had an amazing team of birth professionals there along with my husband, daughter and mother. Heidi and my husband took turns helping me cope and letting me dance with them during contractions. Once it was time to push Heidi was right there in my ear saying everything I needed to hear. I was really fighting pushing my baby out at first and Heidi helped me get over that and start pushing effectively. She was invaluable and I plan to include her again if we ever have more babies.
