Dara is the calming presence and experienced doula you want by your side. She was our doula for both of our children and while my births were vastly different, they were both so beautiful because I had the support of Dara. My first birth was during the height of COVID when support persons were not allowed in the hospital. Dara stayed on the phone with my husband into the wee hours of the night talking him through how to support me.
My second birth progressed much quicker than anticipated and I ended up delivering at home. I had what is termed a "physiological birth." Dara went into action, got her gloves on, and caught my baby within a matter of minutes. She made sure the baby and I were healthy and doing what we needed to do (skin-to-skin, first feed) as we waited for the ambulance to arrive. While in labor, Dara provided a calm, sweet, intentional environment that allowed my husband and I to connect on a very deep level and allowed us to have such a special birth with no complications.
Dara provided exceptional support leading up to my labor and postpartum. She was always available to answer questions, give advice, and set us on the path to a healthy pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum journey. After our second child was born, Dara came to our home to discuss and process the birth with us which was something I found very therapeutic. I loved reliving our birth. She also came a second time to provide an abdominal massage which was not only relaxing but healing.
Her presence puts me at ease. I knew I was in good hands and I couldn't have asked for better births, which I will fondly look back on for the rest of my life.
