We can't sing enough praises for Rachel! I (the birthing person) was honestly hesitant about getting a doula because all the other doulas that we spoke to felt like they offered a very surface level of support. And then we met Rachel - from our very first meeting, we knew we wanted her on our birthing journey.
Prenatal - At week 35, Rachel helped us seamlessly transition from a traditional hospital birth to the home birth we always wanted. This included practical support (sending us a midwife) but also emotional support making the transition. We always felt super heard in our prenatal visits and enjoyed the delicious snacks!
Labor - During labor, her calming presence got us through a long multi day delivery. She reminded me to nourish myself and stepped in in ways that my partner just wouldn't be able to because of her experience. When there were some minor complications and the contractions became so intense, it was Rachel I looked to for co-regulation.
Post-partum- There's something really magical about having something who witnessed your birth help you process the birth afterwards. That combined with the most yummy chicken and lentil soup was such sweet medicine to have while on bed rest.
