Beyond grateful to have had Barbie as our doula on our journey to welcoming our baby girl into the world! With Barbie by our side, we felt informed, empowered, supported and at ease. She was our biggest advocate and truly supported our wants/needs as part of our birth team. The prenatal at home visits were incredibly helpful! Barbie answered any/all of our questions, talked through concerns, offered comfort, shared resources (she has a great network, is well-known and we benefitted from many recommendations she made) and educated us (what to expect before and at hospital, pregnancy stretches/positions, breastfeeding and many other topics). She was truly there for both of us - my husband felt equally included and day of delivery really appreciated her guidance on ways to support, her communication/accessibility during early labor at home (no matter the time of morning) and having her there to talk through decisions/emotions. During labor/delivery Barbie provided me reassurance when I doubted myself, a calm environment with sound/massage/energy and helped me find ways of comfort whether it be trying a new labor position, walking, breathing or never leaving my side when I ended up having a cesarean. We felt she was always there if we needed her and looked forward to her weekly check-ins to say hi, see how we were doing and provide fun/educational pregnancy milestone guides/write-ups. From prenatal visits, laboring, delivery to recovery/postpartum visit (loved that she made sure we were ok and answered any questions we had weeks after coming home), Barbie was there for us and we consider her family - I can’t imagine my experience without her!
