I was planning a birth center birth & was told late in my pregnancy that may not be possible anymore because of my occasional high blood pressure readings. I reached out to Macia & I'm so thankful she took me on so last minute. She fully supported me & gave me advice on things I can do to try to reach my ideal birth plan. And sure enough the high blood pressure ended up being white coat syndrome & I was lucky enough to labor and deliver where I wanted and how I wanted. When my contractions started I let her know & she gave me recommendations on what to do. When they intensified she offered to come to our home at midnight to help us figure out a game plan. She continued to be on call through the night and by very early morning met us at the birth center. She helped me in the shower first then recommended a position to do through 3 contraction. This helped progress things & I moved to the tub. She encouraged me to eat, suggested bathroom breaks, & offered to apply counter pressure. I ended up not liking physical touch so she & my husband gave me the encouragement I needed through positive affirmations. When it was time she taught me how to push & suggested trying different pushing positions. Since her hands were not full when I delivered she was able to get a some pictures which I absolutely love! I ended up having a posterior delivery which she said is rare & more difficult & why I had a long labor & irregular contractions. She helped me with baby's first latch breastfeeding & then was available to text when I had random questions or needed reassurance that things with baby were normal. I really enjoyed having her come visit a few days later & spending some time with us & baby. We had a couple phone calls postpartum where I was able to ask for advice. I couldn't have had a better birth team & so thankful for all of Marcia's expertise to help get me achieve the birth of my dreams!
