Our experience with Maria Apreza was absolutely life changing. From the moment she came into our home we sensed her professionalism, knowledge, and support, which never waivered in our journey together. Maria was our doula for the birth of our third child, and our first VBAC. The birth of our second child was an emergency cesarean section which left our family deeply traumatized and we sought a VBAC for our third as a method of healing and restoration. Maria's personal experience as a woman and mother as well as her strong education and hospital experience could not have been better suited to our needs. She was completely commited from our first meeting, through our nightly phone conversations and through our labor and the successful vaginal birth of our son. Her support was crucial to our journey as we navigated the interactions with the hospital staff, who were sometimes difficult with which to communicate. Maria handled those situations with complete ease and grace. She also provided constant labor support and gave suggestions and hands on comfort techniques when needed. Maria provided emotional support and clarification of our values, she respected our privacy yet was unrelentingly loyal.
My husband and I, our children and parents, and the doctor and nurses all admire Maria's gentle yet strong nature. We all respect her extensive knowledge, experience, and education. She clearly is adaptable to the needs of every birthing woman, regardless of preferences, choices, or values. She was available at every turn and our family grew to love her instantly. Our birth experience has renewed my confidence and identity as a woman, and I attribute a large portion of that to Maria Apreza.
