Melanie gave me the Homebirth of my dreams, and more. From the moment I first reached out to Melanie, she was exactly the voice I needed to hear when I needed to hear it. Right from the get-go I knew I could be open and honest with her about all the emotional and mental hang ups I had around birth and motherhood. Even before all the COVID restrictions, I knew I wanted a home birth with a doula, and Melanie was a perfect fit. She understood my concerns about birth, my desires, and the way I viewed the transformative nature of birth and they were in alignment with her own views. I had found another advocate and an experienced mother who I could turn to for advice or a listening ear when things didn't go as planned. My hubby and I took Bradley Method classes which worked beautifully alongside Melanie's doula support. She worked with him to help guide me through all the toughest parts of my labor. Like my midwife said, they're called "epidoulas" for a reason! Melanie also spoke Spanish, which was perfect since it was my mother's first language, and I wanted my mom present for my birth. During my birth, Melanie knew exactly what counter pressures to utilize along with the TENS unit, what positions to adopt during a contraction to make the contractions more effective, what essential oils to use to ease or revitalize my mind and body during labor, and words of encouragement & strength when I needed to hear it. She surprised me with the most beautifully decorated birth pool--full of fresh flowers that she bought and prepped herself along with gorgeous fairy lights. It was peffect! When it came to advice and support, I could text her anytime day or night, before & after baby arrived. She always had solid advice! Her placenta encapsulation services are excellent too! I can't say enough nice things about Melanie and what she allowed me to experience for my birth. If I had the option to do it all over again, I would absolutely pick Melanie to be my doula.
