Marissa was a wonderful support to me and my husband before, during, and after the birth of our first child. She is knowledgeable, calm and caring. She would listen to all my thoughts, feelings and fears and fully respond to everything with love. She would tell it like it is and make me feel heard, I never felt placated or invalidated. She cares about both parents individually and as a team, which really helped us both feel supported. Her experience with a variety of different kinds of births was incredibly useful and allowed me to have a lot of information for decision making. I had to have an early term scheduled C-section and Marissa helped me process that undesirable change and suggested to me many options I still had to make my birth experience one I enjoyed and felt I had some choice over. Her assistance in making our birth plan was invaluable. Her warmth and easy demeanor made her wonderful to be around and really helped keep all the craziness involved with having a child much more fun and easy to deal with. My husband and I are both so happy we had Marissa as part of our team.
