Testimonial for Carli Mellentine
Carli has been our doula for two births so far and we couldn't be happier having her by our side for those experiences! We were planning on having our second son at the Sacred Roots Birth Center (where our first son was born) but labor progressed so quickly that he was born at home. Carli was the first of our birth team to arrive at our house just as I started pushing. She remained calm and professional throughout, which helped to keep us calm and focused. She reminded me to do things that helped during my first labor and helped soothe me through contractions and pushes. Although the midwife was en route, she recommended did call the paramedics to come, just in case. Carli was very encouraging and stayed with me the entire time since my husband had to coordinate everyone's arrivals. We did not want to go to the hospital and Carli helped to re-iterate that to the paramedics until the midwife arrived. Carli and the paramedic helped deliver our baby's head just as the midwife arrived to help the rest of him out! She stayed with us for several hours after birth to provide support and then checked in regularly post-partum to make sure all was well. Our postpartum visit was full of laughter and smiles as we recalled all the details of our accidental home birth. The birth timeline she provides is a wonderful document to have for now and to share with your child when they are older. We love the relationship we have cultivated with Carli and are so thankful to have her in our lives and as an integral part of the births of our sons!
