Testimonial for Suzanne Ledbetter, CD
Suzanne was an unexpected and invaluable member of our birth team earlier this month (April 2022). Our baby girl decided to make an early debut, arriving almost a month early. As we were so ahead of our planned due date, the doula we had been working with had another client and was not able to attend our birth. Suzanne is one of her sub-doula's and she arrived on scene and stepped right into the moment as if we had known her for years. She joined us during active labor, and even though we had never met, she was able to quickly assess the situation and our personalities and immediately began guiding both myself and my partner.
She was a calming presence, while also providing suggestions on positions and movement to help me and baby work through contractions. Suzanne also took special care to guide my partner on ways he could help me and kept him involved and equally present in the process. She was very in tune with the stages of my labor, and could watch and listen to me and knew exactly when things were progressing. Suzanne had all the tools needed, and kept pulling items out of her bag to help - comb, essential oils, pillow for the bathtub, etc.
Suzanne also communicated really well with the nurses and our OB at the birth center. She even had little thank you bags prepared for everyone, which was so thoughtful.
On top of her guidance and support, Suzanne is a phenomenal photographer and was able to beautifully capture the intimate and special moments of our daughter's arrival. We can't thank her enough for being with us at this most amazing moment in our lives. Suzanne helped us feel safe and cared for. My birth experience was positive and empowering, and so much of that is because of her presence. Thank you Suzanne!
