For those who are first-time parents-to-be, we can't emphasize how important it is to have a doula with Dara's level of experience who can be there to tell you when things are normal vs. not in the pregnancy and birthing process. This was a great source of comfort as we navigated the many decisions that are made throughout pregnancy and birth.
Another great part about having Dara as our doula is her outstanding reputation among other healthcare professionals. So many of our midwives at UCSD LOVE Dara and have worked with her many times before, so there is an immediate warmth, peace, and rapport that is felt in the delivery room that comfortingly tells you that this team has worked together before.
Dara brings so much compassion and empathy to her role as doula, and that was so apparent throughout the pregnancy and especially after our baby's birth. Our baby spent 12 days in the NICU after her birth due to unforeseen complications, and Dara was checking in on us frequently, letting us know that she was there for us if we needed anything. She continually told us what an honor it was to walk with us through our birthing journey, and we felt that gratitude and desire to serve every step of the way.
