From pregnancy through postpartum, Megan was a total game changer in our adventures as new parents.
Throughout my pregnancy, Megan was there for support, sharing excitement, and checking in after appointments. Especially in those last few weeks, she was there for tons of questions too (e.g., Is it worth it to buy my own birthing gown? Does this sound like it was my mucus plug?). Her prenatal visit to our house helped me think through important questions, so we didn't have to make decisions from square one in the moment during our birth.
In early labor, Megan was so helpful, staying awake most of the night with me, recommending positions to labor in, and validating that these weren't more Braxton Hicks contractions. This gave me confidence and allowed my husband to rest up.
Once we arrived at the hospital, Megan provided endless support to my husband and I, suggesting options I wouldn’t have thought to ask for (e.g., laboring in the shower), helping me talk through decisions, and holding my hand every step of the way. She made sure the atmosphere in the room remained calm and peaceful, something I didn't think was possible at a hospital birth. When baby turned sunny side up, she recommended positions that would encourage him to turn back over. She was there to pray with us, empower us, and make sure my husband had a minute to grab a sandwich in our over 24 hour labor.
When baby arrived, she took the sweetest photos without me even realizing. When we struggled with nursing after arriving home, Megan helped us find a lactation consultant ASAP. And when she came to our house for the postpartum visit, our little one reacted like he already knew her. It was so special to have her as part of our little team!
I just can't say enough about our experience. As an anxious first time mom, I can't imagine a better situation. Megan will be one of the first people I call the next time we're pregnant!
