I am so happy that my husband and I hired Emily to be our Doula. This was our first baby and I was hoping to have a natural birth and felt that having a doula would give me the best chance at accomplishing this. I had a pretty difficult labor for several hours but felt that I was able to cope well with the support of Emily and my husband. It eventually became obvious that I would in fact need medical intervention to safely give birth to our baby. During this time Emily went from primarily supporting me through the physical pain to mentally and emotional supporting both myself and my husband. I was so thankful to have her as a second opinion during the decisions that had to be made during that time. She was especially important for my husband at that point as I know he would have had a very difficult time accepting the need for medical intervention if we had not had her as an outside opinion. Because of Emily’s presence I felt completely comfortable with the decisions my husband and I made for the birth of our daughter even though it was not exactly what I had initially hoped for. If you are considering a natural birth or feel like you need that extra support or an outside opinion for your birth process I highly recommend Emily. She is so very sweet, extremely knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful during an emotional and stressful time.
