Testimonial for Carolynn Slocum
Carolynn Slocum took the time to get to know my husband and me. She met with us several times before the birth to hear our concerns and understand our dynamic as a couple. During the birth she talked me through every contraction, reminding me how to breathe, helped me to think positively, and recomended positions to help lessen the pain. She is the reason that I never felt overwhelmed and the ONLY reason I was able to achieve the natural birth I wanted. She goes above and beyond. She stayed awake encouraging me and massaging my sacrum for 12+ hours, after she had already been awake for a full day. My husband found her prescence reassuring because she knew all about labor, and was his safety net if he felt overwhelmed or fatigued. She reminded him to eat and take breaks, and made him feel like he could do so without leaving me to fend for myself becasue she was there. She also made sure we had photos of our first moments with our son. We treasure these, and would not have them if Carolynn hadn't thought to capture those precious moments. After the birth she visited us at our house and gave me breastfeeding advice. She also listened to us recount the brith and asked us what she could have done better. After a lot of thought we replied, "Only if you could have read our minds." We tend to overthink things, so it was hard for us to determine when it was time to call Carolynn to come start helping. From the moment she arrived to when our baby was born, she intuitively knew when it was time for the next step and helped us feel ready for it. Thank you Carolynn!
