We hired Joli for my second and third pregnancies in April 2020 and September 2021, though my most recent pregnancy was the only birth she could attend in person due to my daughter being born in early COVID and she was amazing during my birth experiences.
Joli is such a warm and caring person--being around her feels like a hug. I instantly clicked with her and felt like I could trust her and rely upon her during one of the most intimate, terrifying, and exhilarating experiences I have ever had.
I had a planned induction at 37.5 weeks for my third baby and my epidural didn’t arrive on time, so Joli guided me through an unexpected unmedicated birth. Her calm demeanor, command of the situation, and unflinching reaction to my prolific use of F-Bombs was exactly what the situation needed as I basically delivered the baby with just Joli, the nurse, and my husband in the room. I have never been more grateful to have someone by my side (don't tell my husband!) and I truly don’t think I could have done it without her. I have a very clear memory of gripping Joli’s arms, looking in her eyes and knowing that it would be ok and that I could do it -- that was the moment that I found my inner strength.
In the midst of all of this, she also kept my husband from hiding in a corner of the room, and managed to take photos and videos once medical staff arrived to the room, which was such a sweet surprise to see once things calmed down. Prenatal and postnatal visits were also great. She also runs weekly support groups, which I highly recommend and help so much with everything that happens during the 4th trimester. Her Rebel Birth class is also fantastic—even if you don’t hire her, take the class because it is so much for informative than the hospital classes.
