We were Morgan's first clients as she finished her doula training and we didn't know much about the function of a doula or their role in the birth process before we met Morgan. But wow, we absolutely loved working with her, and she was an invaluable resource for us during the birth of our first child, Samantha.
In the pre-birth meetings, Morgan always came prepared and full of insightful, thought-provoking questions that really motivated us to figure out what we wanted out of the birth process. She helped us refine our choices based on our personalities and what we wanted -- and more importantly, she helped us figure out what we wanted even when we didn't think we knew. She was always communicative, pleasant to work with and very accessible, and in the few months that we worked with her, we felt like she really came to understand who we were and what our parenting style and partnership dynamic was.
On the day we went to the hospital to be induced, Morgan came out to the hospital and stayed for hours even though there wasn't much happening in the beginning. On Day 2 of the induction, my contractions started for real, and I 100% believe I wouldn't have gotten through them as well as I did without Morgan's assistance. Based on some of the things we'd gone over during our pre-birth conferences, coupled with how things were unfolding during my contractions, she figured out the best positions to get me into, always had helpful suggestions of pain relief techniques to try, and really helped me cope with the contractions from start to finish. She stayed from the time my contractions started, to after the baby was born, and she took some wonderful documentary-style photos during the delivery that really helped to capture all the special moments and tell our birth story. Plus she did this while adeptly coaching me through the birth! She also followed up with us the week after!
Takeaway: We would HIGHLY recommend Morgan! Hire her!
