From a father’s perspective, Suzanne had a unique ability for unspoken communication. There were several times during the labor of our daughter that Suzanne could tell just by looking at my wife what she needed and jumped in to assist, offered words of encouragement, and even physically supported her in those moments. She did all of this without my wife having to say a word. The fact that Suzanne could read what was needed and anticipate her needs was invaluable to us. Suzanne was immensely helpful in how I could best support my wife, from when to go to the hospital, to navigating hospital check in, labor, and postpartum. Suzanne removed much of the uncertainty for us, making it easier for us to focus on the task at hand and put away our anxieties as first time parents. We were very impressed with the birth photos she captured, as well as her commitment to checking in on us after we were home with baby. I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical hiring a doula; if you’re on the fence I have two words for you: do it. You’ll be so glad you did.
