It was amazing having Laurie by our side as we prepared for and welcomed our first baby. As first-time anxious parents, we had a ton of questions leading up to the delivery -- everything from "how should we dress our baby on our way home from the hospital?" to "when do we know when it's time to go in?" -- and Laurie had answers to everything. We ended up having our baby a month early, and despite the unexpected timeframe, Laurie was there for us every step of the way. She met us in triage "just in case" and stayed with us once we were admitted and it was clear our baby boy was on his way. She also knew her way around Swedish First Hill like it was her second home. She ensured we got great nurses. She had a great rapport with the hospital staff. She helped us remember to make medical requests based on our birth plan. She helped me with breastfeeding after delivery. She even knew the best things to order off the hospital menu! She has a relaxed, kind and lighthearted demeanor that eased tension and made the day feel fun and happy. We will never forget the experience, and we will forever be grateful to her.
