Testimonial for Midwest Doulas- Doulas, Placenta Encapsulation
Midwest Doulas was an invaluable addition to our birthing team for the birth of our second child. Truth be told, I was a little on the fence about having a doula at our second birth because the doula experience (NOT Midwest Doulas, but another company) we had during our first birth wasn't great. We were referred to Midwest Doulas by two different people we knew, and I am SO THANKFUL we found Justine and her team this time around. The people who referred us had given Midwest Doulas rave reviews based on their experiences, and all I can do is add to those sentiments. Justine attended our birth and was spectacular. Despite not meeting with Justine face-to-face until we were in the birthing room (due to COVID we did all of our meetings via Zoom), she entered the room and didn't skip a beat. She could tell right away I wasn't comfortable in the bed, so she suggested I stand at the foot of the bed while she guided me through breathing exercises and did some pressure massage on my back. In less than 90 minutes our baby girl arrived (while I was still standing at the end of the bed!) and it was everything I hoped it would be. We did run into some complications post-birth and Justine didn't leave my side until it was all over. I feel beyond grateful to have had her literally holding my hand (and coaching me in the exact way I needed) throughout the whole process. I truly believe that if we would have had Justine at our first birth, we would have had a completely different experience (even if the outcome was the same). Having someone with us who was in our corner throughout the whole process, educating us, advocating for us, and talking us through various options made all the difference in the world. We will sing Justine's praises to anyone and everyone who asks! If you are looking for a doula team, look no further!
