Rachel as our doula was an absolutely phenomenal experience! As a doula myself, I really searched thoroughly and have quite high standards. Rachel came with what we needed and most of all *what we didn't know we needed* .. what a gift. Rachel's warm presence, fabulous cooking skills and dynamic knowledge were what sold us on her right away. What we ended up being most grateful for was her bravery in helping us think about and plan for birth alternatives in case things didn't go to plan (we were planning a 2nd homebirth after birthing our first at home) Sure enough, when our baby girl came early at 35 weeks and had to change course, Rachel's support was steady, informed, delicious (the food) and the profound tender care we needed in that time of uncertainty with a premie. Having her support was the difference between perinatal challenges vs. perinatal trauma. Support is Everything.
We hired her for both birth and postpartum, all of it was a joy. From the prenatal planning phase to the gorgeous placenta prints she helped me to create, my partner and I would hire her 10 times again (if we weren't done having babies;) I cannot state it enough, birthers & their partners need to be cared for, and Rachel has mastered that art.
