My birth experience was better than I could have imagined! As a first time mother, there is so much fear and anxiety surrounding labor and delivery. It gave me so much peace of mind to have Lisa by our side through prenatal zoom calls to discuss our labor plan, labor, & delivery.
In our prenatal calls with Lisa & Autumn, they both were incredibly attentive and understood my preference for an unmedicated birth & to labor at home as long as possible. They provided me with resources to help acheive my goal! I prepared on my own by educating myself (taking a prenatal class, reading books & blogs, listening to podcasts) and meditating/visualizing a positive birth experience.
My labor progressed fast & I labored for about 2 hours on my own before Lisa arrived at our home. My husband & I were both relieved as contractions were getting very tough for me. Lisa immediately brought a calming presence and jumped into action. She set up TENS on my back which really helped me as the contractions became more intense. She provided pressure on my shoulders and forehead & helped me move into different positions to help with coping. After laboring for 2 hours with Lisa, she suggested we go to the hospital as my contractions were getting closer together and my groans were sounding rectal (we were getting close).
My husband & I arrived at the hospital and Lisa met us at triage - everyone sprung into action. A doctor came in and check my cervix - 7cm dialated! From there, everything moved quickly. We moved to the delivery room - Lisa started running the tub immediately and set up battery powered candle lights. The warm water was so soothing and I was able to cope through transition in the tub. My water broke and our baby girl was born one hour later! The doctor's placed her on my chest and I felt like superwoman.
Lisa is absolutely AMAZING. I can not imagine my birth without her!
