We initially sought to hire a doula to assist us with our goal of VBAC and were referred to Kelly by our midwife. Kelly blew our expectations out of the water! From our first virtual meeting, I knew Kelly would bring the type of calm, steady energy that we needed.
As my pregnancy drew to a close, Kelly sweetly and patiently answered all of my last-minute, anxious questions and made me feel fully supported going into the birth. When my birth plan changed while I was in labor, Kelly was able to articulate and advocate for my wishes. She gently led my husband in how he could best support my labor so he was able to do so confidently. Since she had a great working relationship with my midwife and the L&D nurses, she was able to negotiate for my wishes without me having to move my focus away from my contractions. And vice versa, she was able to communicate to me what the staff needed from me when my contractions were the most intense. As a bonus, having pictures of my son's birth is invaluable and they still make me emotional after the fact.
Ultimately, I was able to achieve my goal VBAC with Kelly's support. I went into my labor feeling calm and prepared and was ready to manage my (mild) discomforts post-birth once we got home. I highly recommend Kelly to any family seeking doula support.
