My second pregnancy was fraught with anxiety as a result of my first birth experience. From the first meeting with Dara, I felt amazingly supported as she allowed me to share the story of my first birth. We moved on from there with a goal of ensuring a restorative experience for my second birth. She was supportive throughout the entirety of the pregnancy. She was amazingly responsive to every email, text, and inquiry. She provided links and resources to allow me to continue to learn and process the decisions I was making. At the end of the pregnancy, she supported me daily (multiple times a day) as I held strong in my decision to allow my baby to stay inside as long as she needed (41+6)! The night of my daughter’s birth, Dara’s support was invaluable. She is the reason we made it to the hospital at the right time. She is the reason my daughter rotated into the right position during delivery. Dara’s adjustments of my hips made the pushing process run smoothly. She seamlessly fit in with the other staff at the hospital and knew exactly when to step in and when to defer to other professionals. It was the best compliment to my birthing team! If I were to have another child, there would be no one else I would look to for doula support!
