Testimonial for Shannon McKenzie

As a registered nurse, I knew from my research and education that the best way to bring my child into this world was to have a labor and delivery surrounded in peace, tranquility and love. I knew that the best way to accomplish this was through a natural childbirth. Knowing that doulas really are a fantastic help in accomplishing that goal, my husband and I chose to have Shannon as our doula. Words cannot describe how much Shannon's support, wisdom and advice helped both myself and my husband. From me freaking out about failing my 1 hour oral glucose test to her love, support ,and encouragement though a 29 hour labor, Shannon has been a constant strong partner throughout my whole pregnancy. My first meeting with her, I felt as if I was having a conversation with an old friend and she helped me with my goals for what type of prenatall care and delivery that I wanted. From that conversation, I came to the conclusion that to get the care and delivery I wanted, I needed to switch my care to midwives. Shannon referred me to the midwives who delivered my baby. I truly believe that all my wishes for the birth of my baby were accomplished because of the midwives that Shannon referred me to. In essence, I owe a great deal to Shannon for being an advocate for the type of labor and delivery I wanted, and I truly believe that without her wisdom and advice the birth of my daughter would have not have turned out as perfectly as I had imagined. Shannon is fantastic, and I would recommend her whole-heartedly for anyone who is looking for a supportive, knowledgeable, and caring doula who will be supportive in any decision you chose to bring your child into this world.
