We are so grateful that Maritza Pedroza was available and agreed to work with us for our homebirth in 2020. When we told our midwife that she would be with us she got excited and told us that Maritza had been one of the original founders of the doula program at the hospital she had worked for.
While my labor progressed much faster than I'd ever imagined I'm so glad we had Maritza with us. She was calm, reassuring, and to me brought a very maternal presence that I wasn't able to otherwise have. She also helped my husband to feel confident and guided us through our journey.
She helped my husband and the rest of our birth team to clean up afterwards, and helped support us postpartum. The only negative thing I can is say is that she moved away from our area! I will definitely miss her if we are ever blessed with another baby.
