After the amazing experience we had with Barbie for the birth of our first son, we knew we were going to hire her for our next pregnancy. This time, things were very different for us, primarily due to the complications of going through multiple rounds of IVF and pregnancy during COVID. She continued to check in throughout pregnancy and was a great resource for just about every aspect of the pregnancy. She again helped us craft a birth plan. Unexpectedly, we never got to use the birth plan as the pregnancy ended in a precipitous birth in which our son was unexpectedly born unassisted at home. Immediately after the birth of our son and a call to 911, Barbie was contacted, and started her way to our home. It was a traumatic event, as my wife and child experienced health complications. Barbie arrived at our home shortly after the EMT’s, which was a huge relief. I cannot stress enough what it meant to me having her there. The situation was hectic, and our 2.5-year-old son was awake and witnessing the events at home. When it was time to leave for the hospital, and not being in a clear state of mind I requested that she go in the ambulance with my wife and newborn son, and I stay home with our toddler. However, that was not in our birth plan. She reminded me that I am to go with the newborn in any circumstance that my wife is unable and assured me that she would care for our other son. During her time at our home, she cleaned up the mess of birth in the bathroom. That same morning, with little sleep, she came to the hospital and stayed the entire day. Thankfully, everyone was stable, but we really needed her presence. Barbie has this tranquilness about her that reduces stress and anxiety in a way that is hard to describe. She was there for us during a very difficult experience. Once home, she routinely checked in on us and came over for the post-partum visit. We highly recommend Barbie and trust that she will show the same empathy and care to all her clients.
