We have hired Jenny as our doula for all three of our children's births, and she has provided the most sensible, competent, reassuring, and encouraging support, information, and coaching on all three occasions. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
Each baby's birth was different, but all three times, Jenny gave me valuable information that helped me evaluate the benefits and downsides of doctors' recommendations, and gave me multiple natural strategies to try first when doctors were suggesting misoprostol, pitocin, amnioinfusions, percocet post-delivery, etc. or even, in one case, talking about progress being "too slow" and possible need for a C-section. Her calm, sensible approach and great kindness and warmth put my husband and me at ease and helped us have fun between contractions, and cope well with contractions, even as they became more intense. I largely credit Jenny with the fact that I had three successful natural births and very easy recoveries with a great deal of fun and laughter along the way--twice only minutes after my doctors were pushing interventions to "speed things along."
Jenny was totally in tune with what we needed and extremely knowledgable. I wish I could hire her for all of my friends and hope that one day every woman has access to as thoughtful, caring, and expert a doula as Jenny!
