Dara was an absolute godsend during my pregnancy, birth and postpartum. She was indispensable during the birth of our baby girl--helping me and my husband get through the trials of labor in SO MANY ways--comfort measures, her soothing voice, her powerful Spinning Babies techniques (I think I made her sift my belly for hours--something my husband could only do for a minutes at a time! Her physical endurance is incredible!), and her overall knowledge and experience was so helpful. When we got to the hospital, staff members even knew her already, and I remember the nurse in triage saying "oh I just LOVE Dara!" when I showed up and told her my husband and doula would be waiting to meet me in the delivery room (I had to be separated from them to go into triage due to covid restrictions). It was reassuring that Dara had so much familiarity with the hospital and staff we'd be working with over the hours of birthing time.
She was a guiding light not only during the birth. Our baby decided to come quite late at 42 weeks, and I was under a lot of pressure to induce, although baby continued to show up healthy during frequent monitoring. Dara imparted so much helpful insight and coaching during those two weeks, which gave me the confidence to follow my intuition. Baby girl showed up all on her own and we had a healthy, complication-free birth. She followed up with us postpartum which was so necessary--we felt like such newbies and Dara helped us feel a bit more grounded, and is always available if we have questions. Hands down, the best decision we made in our pregnancy journey was hiring her. Thank you Dara!
