I will forever look back at the birth of our child in awe of my own power, in awe of life, and with the deepest gratitude for our doula Kim. She helped us create the loving space that my partner and I needed to bring our son into this world. Leading up to the birth, as we prepared together, Kim listened and supported my choices and built our confidence around the birthing experience. I was able to enter into labor at peace with the uncertainty of it all. She was so fully present with me during labor, in tune with my needs and adapting to each moment with grace, even when those moments weren’t graceful. She was a calm and steady guide. When my body trembled, Kim said “That’s your fire,” and I found the strength to continue. I would hope for every woman to have support from someone like Kim for their births.
