Lisa Shire was a wonderful doula and I would recommend her to others. Before birth, she was responsive to my questions and sent me helpful resources to prepare for birth. At birth, she helped us maintain a calm atmosphere in the delivery room and her presence and reassurance allowed me to feel more relaxed and confident having an unmedicated birth at the hospital. My favorite part of the birthing experience was when she set up the jacuzzi with fake candles, dark light and encouraged my husband and I to labor alone together with me in the tub. I think that relaxing experience allowed me to dilate faster and prepared me for the next stages of labor. Having Lisa there helped to quell my fears about hospitals and nervousness from my first birth, and I have already started recommending her to friends of mine who are expecting.
