Testimonial for Caellyn Everson, CD(DONA)

As a first time mother, I feel lucky to be able to say that I had a very positive birthing/post partum experience and it is in large part due to Caellyn's presence and support.
During my pregnancy, we initially had a virtual meeting, which was then followed up by a visit from Caellyn to our home to meet with us. In those meetings, we discussed our birth preferences, questions or concerns we had from recent appointments, important birth skills to practice, natural ways to induce labor, and things to have on hand once the baby is born. We also just spent time chatting and getting to know one another, which was important for the delivery day.
Once my water broke a few days ahead of our due date, my husband and I headed to the hospital and about an hour later, Caellyn was at our side, where she stayed for almost 18 hours until after we gave birth and were headed to our recovery room. We practiced breathing through contractions, and since our little one was intitally posterior-facing, we focused on positions to help rotate him into the optimal position for birth. She was also a huge help to my husband in helping guide him on ways to help comfort and support me. During the pushing phase of my labor, Caellyn was alongside the doctors and nurses, helping to deliver the baby. My OB even praised Caellyn for her help! Not only that, she took photos of the entire labor, which I didn't realize how much we'd appreciate having since so much ends up being a bit of a blur. Ultimately, Caellyn's sole focus on us (vs. the nurse who was in and out) was a comforting presence for me and my husband.
A day after we got home from the hospital spent the better part of an afternoon with us to offer support, which was invaluable. She gave us really useful tips on different positions for breastfeeding and postpartum recovery. Beyond that, she continued to check in via texts over the following couple of weeks and this made us feel so supported and cared for.
