My partner and I cannot thank Martha enough for her support in the birth of our son. Martha was encouraging and supportive of our birth plans, informative and helpful in gathering information for us, and worked with our birth center and midwife to create the perfect birthing enviorment. I really don't think I could have had the natural birth I hoped for without Martha's support, I had a long and arduous labor and Martha was so encouraging and reminded me to breath and that I was doing everything right to bring my baby into the world. Martha was also great in advocating for what I had set out as my birth plans. Our midwife and birth center were very supportive, but I can imagine how things would have been very different in a hospital. If you are considering a hospital birth I think a doula is really the way to go, they help be your voice when you are in "the zone" during birth and work with you to establish what your goals are before labor so they can be there for you. A doula is also a second pair of eyes, they're keeping an eye out that your consent is obtained and have your birth plan literally in hand need be. I felt really reassured that if I had to transfer to a hospital that Martha would be there supporting me and watching out for me. Martha also worked to help prepare my partner to be a great birth partner, and I honestly think he was such a great support because of her work with us. All around, Martha was incredible and I highly reccomend her. If we have another baby I know I will be calling Martha!
