Barbie showed herself to be useful weeks before our due date arrived. We met a couple of times beforehand and she helped inform us of things we’ll encounter before, during, and after delivery. She gave us activities to help us prepare for delivery. She helped us create our birth plan.
Barbie helped us realize our birth plans. I don’t think we would have achieved our idealized birth without her. The most important thing is to safely bring your child into this world, but it is not the only thing of importance. My wife didn’t have a surgery to recover from, she was able to walk/move during delivery, we have pictures from the birth (taken by Barbie), my wife was able to walk and move immediately after delivery, we went on walks as a family before our son was a week old, and hikes before he was a month old, she doesn’t suffer from incontinence issues. Rather than traumatizing we remember our son's birth as one of the best days of our lives. Yesterday she said this about birth: “That is hands down the most exhilarating experience I’ve ever had.” Lastly, I was able to bear witness to my wife becoming a mother, Barbie strengthened our partnership, and shouldered enough of the support role so I could catch my breath and bask in the beauty of motherhood. My wife is stronger because of Barbie, and my respect for her and every other natural-birth-mother is forever expanded. Many folks describe their wedding or their child's birth as the best day of their life. For our wedding we had a band, a photographer, a caterer and more. We ensured the success of our special day by hiring professionals, why would birth be different? Ben Franklin said, “By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail.” I recommend Barbie with the highest regard, she will improve the odds of achieving your birth plan and improve the experience throughout.
