Rebecca's services are not worth the high $$$ cost. Rebecca was a nice person who seemed to genuinely care about helping mothers in birth, but the services I received with her as my doula were not worth the cost she charges.
Long story short, I was an attempted VBAC with a stubborn baby who would not move. During labor she had me do some Spinning Babies positions (ones that anyone can learn how to do just by reading them on the website), gave me an oil-scented rebozo to cover my face, and stayed until my baby was out. She really didn’t do more than what the hospital nurses would’ve already suggested (a nurse even said as much). I'm not sure how to describe this, but she wasn’t very proactive: She wasn't much of a cheerleader or a super supportive coach-in-your-corner type of doula. She gave support, but there was not much activity or energy behind that support. She kept asking me what I wanted to do next (I don't know what to do next, that's why I hired her!). She seemed unsure of what positions to put me in or at what point to do them, so we just tried a bunch of random positions. I was also surprised that she "strongly suggests" getting an epidural even after I decided that I wanted to try to avoid it as I was attempting a VBAC (enter the Cascade of Interventions).
Also, at one of our prior in-person meetings, she literally promised to me that I’d have a VBAC (a promise I didn't ask for). Well, I ended up having another c-section. She did not stay for the 2 hours after birth as outlined in the agreement, nor did she schedule the postpartum meeting that was also outlined in the agreement - I just stopped hearing from her. I guess that's what I get for paying in full up front.
