Sam is simply amazing! I am originally from Guatemala; my entire family is still there, and I was not very familiar with US medical procedures in terms of delivery options and what to expect. Additionally, I read so many articles and books that I was a little overwhelmed. Since I first talked with Sam, I realized she was the perfect Doula! She is passionate about her work, she has high cultural sensitivity, and the most important thing: she genuinely cares about others...especially moms-to-be! Her background and her unique interpersonal skills make her perfect for this profession. Sam is very organized and punctual. For each session, Sam provided my husband and I with excellent reading material and discussed it with us. She is well versed and helped to design my delivery plan, she was always able to answer our questions, she provided us good guidance and support; she was always available by mail or phone. Sam is extremely empathic and that helps her to identify when one is a little down or feeling overwhelmed. She transmits positive energy and kindness, keeping anxiety under control! I started with contractions during the morning ended up going to the hospital really late at night. We called Sam and she answered right away! She joined us in the hospital and I will never forget how glad I was to see her because I knew she was there for me. She did everything she could to make me feel comfortable, to keep me hydrated, and to rest. She also was very supportive with my mom and my husband and helped to keep things positive. After delivering, she visited us in the hospital. She asked me about how I felt and she met our little one. She gave me many tips to establish breastfeeding and how to deal with the changes that come with the wonderful experience of being a parent. Thank you, Sam!
