Kelly is incredible. We chose to include a doula in the births of all three of our children. After a mediocre experience the first time, we found Kelly through word of mouth from several friends and family members. We were in great hands with her during the births of our next two daughters. She helped prepare me to ask questions that my OB visits regarding the GBS testing. She helped me prepare for labor during the weeks before, checking in and supporting me through the last weeks of pregnancy. I was 1 week late both times and she was encouraging and provided ideas to help bring on labor. On birth days, she was professional and loving. She knew when to join my husband and me and knew when it was time to go to the hospital. All of those questions you and your partner have are so tough to answer in the throws of labor. This is precisely why having Kelly on your team is crucial. Whether or not your birth is at home, at a hospital, medicated or unmediated, vaginal or a section, Kelly is key in the experience.
Once at the hospital, Kelly (and therefor my husband and me) were treated very well. I bypassed triage both times simply by Kelly telling the staff I was at least 8cm dilated (which I was both times). She knows this spot on without a vaginal check, solely from experience. During labor at the hospital, a hospital nurse came into my room and asked Kelly for suggestions and help for her patient in the room next door. If that doesn't say it all! The nurses are asking her for assistance!
