When I first found out that I was pregnant with my first child I knew that I wanted to have a doula to assist with the birth. I found Rebecca late in my doula search, and it was the best thing that happened to me. I was drawn to her kind demeanor and when we had our consultation, I immediately knew that she was a great fit. She was knowledgeable and friendly and was quick to respond to my never-ending questions. During our prenatal meeting, my partner and I were able to really get a sense of Rebecca’s personal doula style and what to expect in the upcoming weeks. She provided us with not only personal anecdotes from her deliveries but gave us scientific resources so that we could research any additional questions ourselves. When it came to my labor, it was a smooth and seamless process. My water broke early in the morning and I was able to stay in constant contact with Rebecca. When she arrived at our home, she brought an air of calm confidence that let me and my partner know that we could do this. At the hospital Rebecca’s presence was invaluable, she constantly reminded me of my breathing techniques and gently coached my partner on ways that he could assist as I was going through my contractions. There was a balance of her being present and hands-on and allowing my partner and me the space to work through things together. She was able to remind the midwife staff about my requests in my birth plan everything went exactly as I had hoped. She was reassuring and tender as we moved through the birth process. Having Rebecca by my side made me feel so confident and empowered, I was able to have a beautiful birth experience that would not have been possible without her guidance. I see more children in my future, and I would be honored to have Rebecca’s presence at those births as well. She is such a knowledgeable and loving person it was a joy working with her.
