Skip the hospital folks. Get yourself a Doula. This Doula. Men, don't fret, your wife is probably having you read this testimonial to prove that it's the right decision. Thankfully I didn't need convincing because when it comes to the total costs of pregnancy and delivery, having a Doula, THIS doula, is worth every hard earned dollar...it's either the smart way, or the hospital way. One of those options leaves you with a few quarters for the pinball machine at the local tavern. Be smart. Play pinball.
After meeting with Noleen...like, actually moments after we got in the car from the patio at the coffee shop (under COVID-19 conditions) I said, we're doing it. I was sure that my wife was expecting me to be critical of something about the service or the price, but nope. We felt like it was the right choice, and it turned out to be everything we expected.
"Which package?" she said.
"The whole thing. We're saving a fortune by using a midwife and a doula instead of the hospital."
And so began our journey with Noleen, who turned out to be the perfect compliment to a terrifying process. Gentlemen, you WILL experience terror when you see what your wife goes through. Don't let it happen without Noleen. She's like a Doula Superhero. Like...Wondoulawoman.
And...if you don't think you want them, think again. Have her photograph the birth experience! It's amazing how therapeutic the photos are for your wife when she gets to see who was there to support her during a very chaotic time. She will not remember what was happening in detail, and photos will comfort both of you when combined with your birth story, which Wondoulawoman will present to you a few weeks after.
Do it! We can't imagine not having Noleen in our story.
