I cannot recommend Shannon’s doula services enough. She is so knowledgeable when it comes to birth. Her support allowed me to relax and enjoy my pregnancy. With Shannon’s assistance I reached all of my birth goals and had a positive, and healing birth experience. As much prep work as I did for this birth the moment my water broke I forgot it all and was having trouble not panicking. Shannon was so reassuring and helped guide us as to when we should go to the hospital. Once at the hospital she helped guide my breathing and reminded me to try different positions to get labor to progress. I would not have gotten as far as I did (7 cm) without Shannon’s help. She was so calming and encouraging. Shannon was able to read the machines and let me know how my contractions were progressing. Shannon has so much insight such as what tools to ask for (peanut ball, birthing ball, etc) to which nurses to request. Shannon was also the first to notice that there was a problem with the fact that I had been in active labor for so long and baby still had not descended. She got the ball rolling which led to the discovery that the baby was breech (even the doctors and nurses doing my cervical checks thought they were touching the head). If it weren’t for Shannon who knows how long I would have been left to labor before it was discovered. After going through this experience Shanon has become an important part of our family as she has played such an important role in the birth of our second daughter. I honestly can’t recommend Shannon enough and would encourage any mom to hire a doula. I could write so much more on how important I think it is to have doula support and how amazing I think Shannon is, but I think this review is already long enough. I know having a child is expensive and hiring a doula is an added expense, but it is absolutely worth every penny.
