Testimonial for Hannah Norton

In 2008 I had my first son while my husband was deployed to Iraq! I was nervous and anxious about all that labor entailed.

At my 38 week appointment they told me Silas was breech and that they wanted to try and turn him manually before I went into labor! Well surprise, after they turned him I went into labor, but not "active labor"...although to this day it felt the same to me! Fast forward two more days, yes thats right, I had been laboring at home that whole time 36 hours to be exact! By the time I went to the hospital I was miserable and had all of my labor in my back! I was exhausted from not sleeping or eating!  I had called Hannah and told her I was at the hospital and she told me she would meet me there!

When she got there I was pretty upset because the Dr. That was on call wasn't being very accommodating to my requests. Since I had back labor I wanted to try and be in a different position to relieve some of that, but he wanted me to lay in the bed that was what he was comfortable with! He also wanted to give me something to hurry my labor along, I was upset so I just remember saying whatever go ahead, but Hannah knew what I wanted and she was my voice during a time I wasn't able to be, she told the Dr. That I didn't want drugs and I was doing great! He also got a little annoyed because I wasn't pushing great, but at this point I was so exhausted I didn't have any energy to push! Hannah encouraged me through and kept telling me I could do it! She was the calm I needed in that moment, she kept me focused on what I needed to do, and she made sure I did it the way I wanted to! I wish I was able to have her with my other two births, its really nice to have someone there to support you, who knows what you are hoping to experience, but also knows when that might not be a reality, and will make the safest decisions for you and your baby!??????
