Justine and Midwest Doulas came recommended to us, and their efforts exceeded our expectations. The COVID-19 pandemic caused angst and interruptions making a normally anxious time seem so much more daunting. Justine was incredibly flexible as hospital restrictions evolved, and was very knowledgeable about hospitals, birthing centers, and physicians. Providing things to consider as we created our birth plan and helped us facilitate detailed conversations with our clinicians.
The generosity with their time was brilliant. Making time for any questions about what was happening during the pregnancy and postpartum.
Justine has a passion for what she does. Her vast experience and hundreds of births she has attended allows her to bring keen abilities to the families she supports. She is committed to her work and takes her advocacy for her clients very seriously. At the last minute, the hospital allowed doulas back in for labor. This was a huge comfort for us. I started having double contractions, and Justine was able to identify this was an issue with the position of baby. With her instructed labor positions, she was able to completely resolve the issue to continue laboring.
We used the post-partum doula services, and found it so life-giving to have someone to step in and help. Christina helped with food prep, dishes, and laundry, doing it with such efficiency that it was a little mind blowing. Part of their services include overnight support, and getting a decent night sleep makes the transition with new baby not feel so arduous and overwhelming.
Overall, if you thinking about getting a doula to help – do it. I would highly recommend Midwest Doulas. They are committed to their work, professional through every interaction, extremely knowledgeable and have such a passion for their field. We were so blessed to have her and team through our journey.
