I've been present for the births of all three of my daughters, but only with the latest did we hire a doula. I went in with no real expectations, and without anticipating how it would positively affect the experience. As soon as my wife and I sat down with Sarah and started chatting I felt like we had made a great decision. Not only was Sarah knowledgeable, personable, and fun to chat with, but she exudes a calming and nurturing presence. I expressed to her that as a dad, I have a little anxiety about being in the delivery room (even after 2 uneventful deliveries), and Sarah was more than understanding. She answered all of our questions, and even took some amazing photos during the delivery. To be honest, I hadn't even considered photographing the event, but I'm so glad Sarah was there and took the initiative, because now we have some of the most memorable photos in our album of our new daughter entering the world.
