Lisa was such a peaceful addition to our home. She did everything–cooked, cleaned, baby-held, organized, etc.–there was nothing she could not do. During a very exhausting time she kept us sane. Not to mention she's empthatic, relatable, calming and just a lovely person to have around. And a bonus, she has great taste in music! All that to say, as a Mom it can sometimes be hard to ask for help. She never made me feel like I couldn't do it by myself, but rather she encouraged me and reminded me that I was doing a good job. Just having that motherly encounter was so comforting. As mama's, we tend to take care of everyone else, but it's important to have someone take care of us! And Lisa did just that. Never pushed herself on us, but was simply there to care of us, whatever it looked like that day.
Lisa is also well-connected. I had several questions arise, most of which she helped me answer, but if she didn't know the answer then she quickly connected me to a person that did. It was everything from a lactation consultant to installing carseats–and everyone was responsive and quick to jump in and help!
My birth was unexpectedly difficult, so in hindsight I'm so grateful that I had this relationship set up in advance. It alleviated a lot of the day-to-day stress of trying to manage a toddler and a newborn amidst trying to heal and give myself what I needed in order to function. If you're on the fence about whether or not you'll need postpartum care–DO IT. It's the best gift you'll ever receive.
