Testimonial for Midwest Doulas- Doulas, Placenta Encapsulation

We are grateful for our excellent prenatal education and birth support from Midwest Doulas. We opted for the Premium Birth Package. In our first appointment, founder/owner Justine talked us through birth at a high level (dilation, effacement, station, cervical checks, stages of labor, and what's changed with COVID). Ale led appointment 2 where she covered comfort techniques to use during labor, objects and snacks to bring to the hospital, and requests we could make of our care team. We expected our third appointment to cover breast-feeding, but got sidetracked by discussing a switch in providers. The breast-feeding was pushed to a fourth meeting, which we had a billing miscommunication about (we did not understand that we were signing up for a service we would be expected to pay for). Justine waived the fee because we hadn't understood this commitment. All three appointments were engaging, fun, and very informative.
Ale served as our doula for a perfect birth experience. She promptly arrived at the hospital just as we did and had endless ideas and advice for how to keep things moving along smoothly. She empowered us to stay true to our preferences, and created a sense of calm and confidence for us both. Ale gave us guidance that can't be given by a partner and is unlikely to come from a provider, like breathing, focus and relaxation advice. She also had advice about positions and pacing and brought amazing calm, comforting energy to the birth. We're very happy that we chose Midwest Doulas and would definitely work with them again.
